Self Defense for Tweens and Teens
Learn cool and effective defense moves from karate expert Sonya Alexander at Willingboro Public Library on Mon., Feb. 2 at 4 p.m. Kids never know when they will need to defend themselves from a bully or a stranger and this fun and informative workshop will teach fifth through twelfth graders how to protect themselves in potentially dangerous situations. This free program is open to the public. Registration begins Jan. 19.
Sonya Alexander began karate training at age six, following her five older brothers. She earned her first black belt at age ten and has since studied multiple martial arts. A decorated Air Force veteran, Ms. Alexander is now the founder and managing partner of My Karate Mom, LLC. "Self defense training is imperative to developing our best weapon-our mind," she says. "The ability to protect yourself from dangerous situations is priceless."
