National Library Week Programs

 

Program: Sunday Book Party, Celebrate National Library Week!

Day, Date & Time: Sun., Apr. 5, 2 p.m.

Ages: 4-10

Registration: Begins Mar. 29

Have a great time making crazy hats to celebrate National Library Week!  You can also test your library skills by entering our book scavenger hunt.  Refreshments served.

 

Program: Burlington County WIC @ Your Library

Day, Date & Time: Thurs., Apr.16, 10 a.m.

Registration: Not required

The Burlington County WIC program provides nutritional counseling and supplemental foods to pregnant, postpartum, and nursing women and their children through age 5.

Meet with a nutritionist from the Burlington County Health Department at the library and receive more information about healthy refreshments for you and your children.

 

Program: Worlds Connect @ Your Library

Day, Date & Time: Thurs., Apr. 16, 7 p.m.

Grades: 1- 4

Registration: Begins Mar. 9

Connect @ the library for board games and activities with library friends. Every participant will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a board game or book in celebration of National Library Week.

 

Program: Dr. Herman Beavers Lectures on African American Poetry

Day, Date & Time: Thurs., Apr. 16, 7 p.m.

Registration: Begins Mar. 30.

Dr. Beavers teaches in the English Department at the University of Pennsylvania and is the author of Wrestling Angels into Song: The Fictions of Ernest J. Gaines and James Alan McPherson, which was published in 1995 by the University of Pennsylvania Press. He also has a chapbook of poems, A Neighborhood of Feeling (1986) from Doris Publications. His most recent poems have appeared in Callaloo, Cross Connect, and Peregrine.

 

Program: Library Lock-In

Day, Date & Time: Apr. 18, 7 p.m. to Apr. 19, 7 a.m.

Grades: 7-12

Registration: Begins Apr. 4

Teens, celebrate National Library Week with an overnight party at the library!  Join your friends to watch movies, play games, and have a great time while the library is closed!  Registration is limited to 30 teens, so sign up early!

 

Program: Constance Quarterman Bridges Reads for National Poetry Month

Day, Date & Time: Sun., Apr. 19, 2 p.m.

Registration: Begins Mar. 30

Constance Quarterman Bridges, who won the prestigious "Cave Canem Poetry Prize" for her first book of poems Lions Don't Eat Us, will help us celebrate National Poetry Month in Willingboro by reading from her work. Ms. Bridges' reading will be followed by an open-mic reading by local poets.
