Exhibit: Youth Achievers Science and Math Projects

Experience the projects of the area's best and brightest in engineering, the sciences and math.

Exhibit Displayed: Jan. 5-28

Meet the Artist: Sat., Jan. 10, 2 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.

 

Children's Programs

Program: Winter Story Time

Day, Date & Time: Wed., Jan. 7, 14, 21, & 28, 10:30 a.m.

Ages: 18 mos. - 4 yrs.

Registration: Ongoing

Toddlers and caregivers gather at the library for a four week session of story time. Your child will meet friends their age while being introduced to stories and finger plays. Afterwards, snacks and parent / child interactive toys await you in the meeting room!

 

Program: Sunday Book Party, "Junie B. Jones Is a Party Animal"

Day, Date & Time: Sun., Jan.11, 2-3 p.m.

Ages 4-10 

Registration: Begins Jan. 2

Enjoy stories, fun, contests and games at a Junie B. Jones party.

 

Program: New Parents & Parents to Be Tea

Day, Date & Time: Thurs., Jan. 15, 7 p.m.

Ages: Infants & Expecting Parents

Registration: Begins Dec. 15

If you are a new parent or expecting a new baby, visit the library for baby talk!

Meet other adults that are going through the same experiences as you while enjoying tea.

You will also have the opportunity to become familiar with our Parent Collection and request new books that are an interest to you!

 

Program: You're a Perfect Fit!

Grades: 2 - 4

Registration: Begins Jan. 2

You're a perfect fit for our library! Celebrate National Puzzle Day and join us at W.P.L. and create a part of our puzzle any way you choose, and then help us put it together.

With out you, our library's not complete! Games, fun and food await you!

 

Family Programs

Program: Beginning Cake Decorating for All Ages

Day, Date & Time: Mon., Jan. 12, 6:30 p.m. 

Registration: Begins Dec. 29

Heather Spoda has been baking and decorating original, decorative cakes for over 10 years.  Join us as Heather demonstrates several decorating techniques, and then try your hand at some decorating basics.

 

Program: Sojourner Truth: Ain't I a Woman?

Day, Date & Time: Sat., Jan. 31, 2 p.m.

All Ages

Registration: Not required

A one-woman show by actress Daisy Nelson Century of the American Historical Theater. Relive the story of abolitionist and feminist Isabella Baumfree, who changed her name to Sojourner Truth and walked through Long Island and Connecticut, preaching "God's truth and plan for salvation."

Teen Programs

Program: Game On!

Day, Date & Time: Mon., Jan. 26, 6:30 p.m.

Grades: 7-12

Registration: Not required

Take a game break this Monday!  Come to the Young Adult Room and kick back with a game of cards, a board game or jump on the Wii and test your gaming skills.  All teens are welcome to drop in and get your game on!

 

Program: Newbery Book Club

Day, Date & Time: Wed., Jan. 14, 3:30 p.m. 

Grades: 6-8

Registration: Ongoing

Discuss the latest and coolest books for young teens over refreshments.  Participants receive books free every month.  Students in Willingboro public schools receive extra credit for attending!  Light refreshments will be served.

 

 

Program: Cover to Cover Book Club for High School Students

Day, Date & Time: Mon., Jan. 12, 3 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.

Grades: 9-12

Registration: Not required

Read any good books lately?  Get together with friends and talk about the current great reads!  A new and exciting book is discussed each month.  Copies of the book are provided to club members.  This program will be held in Willingboro High School's MVP Room.  All area high school students are welcome to attend.

 

Program: Get A Job! for Teens

Day, Date & Time: Wed., Jan. 21, 4 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.

Grades: 7-12

Registration: Not required

Teens, are you looking for a job?  Do you want to find part-time work over the summer?  Join us for an informative workshop on how to properly complete a job application and how to ace a job interview.

Adult Programs

Program: Introduction to Yoga

Day, Date & Time: Sat., Jan. 3, 9 a.m.

Registration: Begins Dec. 15

Kathleen McCabe will introduce us to the practice of Yoga. Resolve to have a serene and peaceful new year, put on some comfortable clothes and bring a bottle of water and a yoga mat to the library.

 

Program: Senior Citizen Book Club

Day, Date & Time: Mon., Jan. 21, 1:30 p.m. @ at the JFK Senior Center

Registration: Not required

Join us for rousing discussions about the latest books that everyone is talking about!  Seniors of all ages welcome!

 

Program: The Law of Attraction, Health and Weight Loss

Day, Date & Time: Sat., Jan. 10, 3 p.m.

Registration: Begins Jan. 2

Kathleen McCabe, an experienced health and weight loss coach, will talk about using the power of the Law of Attraction in conjunction with the Take Shape for Life plan to get to, and maintain, your ideal weight. Samples of Medifast meals will be served.

 

Program: Daily Life Among the Lenape

Day, Date & Time: Wed., Jan. 21, 7 p.m.

Registration: Begins Jan. 2

Learn about the original inhabitants of Willingboro who were here long before Levitt. MaryEllen Flynn is an instructor of Lenape Indian lore and a Willingboro resident. With actual artifacts, she will show what life was like for these early Native Americans. Light refreshments will be served.

 

Computer Classes

Program: MS Word

Day, Date & Time: Mondays, Jan. 5 & 12, 10 a.m.

Registration: Begins two weeks before the first class.

Create, save and format professional-looking documents with confidence and ease.

 

Program: PC Basics

Day, Date & Time: Thurs., Jan. 22, 10 a.m.- noon.  

Registration:  Begins Jan. 7.

This two-hour session introduces students to PCs and the Windows XP operating system. Learn the basics of using a computer and saving and finding your files.
