National Library Week

Program: Willingboro Writes!

Day, Date & Time: Sat., Apr. 12, 12-3 p.m.

Registration: Begins Apr. 1

Attention aspiring authors! Join published Willingboro residents for lunch and conversation. After lunch, hear the authors describe their journeys to publication. Keynote speaker will be Willingboro native Jeff Gammage, Philadelphia Inquirer reporter and author of China Ghosts. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

 

Program: Library Lock-In

Day, Date & Time: Apr. 12, 7 p.m. to Apr. 13, 7 a.m.

Grades: 7-12

Registration: Begins Mar. 28

Teens, celebrate National Library Week with an overnight party at the library!  Join your friends to watch movies, play games, and have a great time while the library is closed!  Registration is limited to 25 teens, so sign up early!

 

Program: Recycled Jewelry Making Workshop

Day, Date & Time: Mon., Apr. 14, 6:30 p.m.

Registration: Begins Mar. 31

Do you have old baubles or broken jewelry that could be transformed into beautiful jewelry pieces?  Bring them to the library and learn how to make jewelry treasures from your trash.

 

Program: Try It, You Might Like It! Celebrating Diversity

Day, Date & Time: Sat., Apr. 19, 3 p.m.

All ages

Registration: Not required

Come sample foods from around the world. Bring the whole family.

 

Program: Poetry Reading, featuring Christopher Bursk with Alfred Encarnacion

Day, Date & Time: Sun., Apr. 20, 2-4:30 p.m.

Registration: Not required

Christopher Bursk, an award-winning poet and professor of English at Bucks County Community College, will read a selection of his work, followed by the library's own Alfred Encarnacion. After the featured readers, an open-mic reading will be held for local poets to share their poetry with the audience. A sign up sheet for the open-mic session will be available at the beginning of the program.

Exhibit: Mother/Daughter Artists - Paintings of Tina Wolff and Jennalea Polascak

Contrasting artistic qualities of mother and daughter artists are on display in this exhibit of mixed media still life, landscape, and abstract works.

Children's Programs

Program: Sooo, You Think You're Funny!!

Days, Dates & Times: Month of April - Deadline for submissions - April 25

Ages: 5-12

Registration: On entry submissions

Try your hand at writing a poem that is funny! A panel of judges will pick the three funniest poems. There will be 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners. Winners will be posted and prizes given out May 9.

 

Program: Reading Adventure

Day, Dates, & Time: Thurs., Apr. 3, 10, 17& 24, 7 p.m.

Grades: 1 - 3

Registration: Begins Mar. 1

Do you enjoy reading and listening to stories? If you can commit to one night a week for the entire month this club is for you! Visit the library every Thursday during the month of April & read silently as Ms. Linda reads to you. Free books and prizes will be raffled off at each meeting and participants receive a reading certificate & pizza party to celebrate at the last meeting!

 

Program: Sunday Book Party

Day, Date & Time: Sun., Apr. 6, 2 p.m.

Ages 4-10

Registration: Begins Mar. 23

It's "Chicken Sunday" with Patricia Polacco. Enjoy hearing this delightful story. Create and design your very own "Miss Eula" Easter bonnet or hat. Yummy spring refreshments will be served.

 

Program: Kids at Work

Day, Date, & Time: Tues., Apr. 8, 3-5 p.m.

Grades: Pre-K - 6

Registration: Not required

Are you visiting the library after school? Why not hit the books (homework) or read a book while enjoying a healthy snack supplied by us in the Children's Room.

 

Program: Go Fly a Kite!

Day, Date & Time: Sat., Apr. 26, 2 p.m.

Ages 6-12

Registration: Begins Apr. 12

Make a kite and then try to fly it in the Library parking lot.

 

Program: Career Explorer

Day, Date & Time: Wed., Apr. 30, 2 p.m.

Grades: 4, 5, & 6

Registration: Begins Apr. 16

What do you want to be when you grow up? If you like digging in dirt, using a hammer or big rigs, then this is the program for you. Explore your future today.  Come learn about the many careers in the field of Construction. There will be a presenter.

 

Teen Programs

Program: Newbery Book Club

Day, Date & Time: Wed., Apr. 9, 3:30 p.m.

Grades: 6-8

Registration: Ongoing

Discuss the latest and coolest books for young teens over refreshments.  Participants receive discussion books free every month.  Students in Willingboro public schools receive extra credit for attending!

 

Program: Teen Book Club

Day, Date & Time: Mon., Apr. 14, 3:00 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.

Grades: 9-12

Registration: Not required

Read any good books lately?  Have a book that you just can't put down?  Get together with friends and fellow readers to talk about your favorite books!  This program will be held in Willingboro High School's MVP Room.  All area high school students are welcome to attend.

 

Program: Willingboro SET (Teen Advisory Group)

Day, Date & Time: Thurs., Apr. 17, 3:30 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.

Grades: 7-12

Registration: Not required

Calling all teens!!!  Let your voice be heard; we need your input on what's hot and what's not at the library.  Meet with the Young Adult Librarian and let us know what you want; after all, it's your library!!

 

Adult Programs

Program: Feng Shui

Day, Date & Time: Tues. Apr. 8, 7 p.m.

Kathleen McCabe will introduce us to the ancient art of placement and arrangement of space to achieve harmony with the environment. Create a serene and balanced home in this year!

 

Program: Stress-busters

Day, Date & Time: Tues., Apr. 29, 7 p.m.

Registration: Begins Apr. 15

Dr. Eric Stofman will discuss the five stress-busters that ensure optimum performance at work. Dr. Stofman is a chiropractor in Cherry Hill. Light refreshments will be served.

Computer Classes

Program: Basic Computing

Days, Dates & Times: Weds. & Thurs., 10 a.m.- noon or 1 p.m.-3 p.m.;  Apr. 2, 3 ,9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24

Registration:  Begins two weeks before the first class of the month.

Join this class to learn basic concepts in MS Windows, MS Word, and desktop publishing.

 

Program: Keyboarding

Improving your keyboard skills can save you many hours of agonizing hunting and pecking! Improve your speed and accuracy on the computer, and reap the rewards.

 

Program: Fun with Excel

This is your chance to find out all the cool things you can do with Excel!

 

Program: The World of Google

Day, Dates & Time: Fri., Apr. 4 & 11, 10 a.m.
