Learn about the Afro-Brazilian martial and musical art Capoeira with master teacher Estagiario Claudio at Willingboro Public Library on Sat., July 12 at 2:30 p.m. This free family program will be held outside weather permitting, inside the library in case of rain. No registration is required for this event, which is open to the public.

Capoeira was created in the 16th century by enslaved Africans in Brazil, who incorporated elements of fighting, dance, and game play into this unique martial art. As drums and music play, participants form a circle or "roda" as two combatants in the center of the ring perform a choreographed mock fight.

Estagiario Claudio hails from Mato Grosso, Brazil. His 20 years of martial arts experience includes 16 years study of capoeira and 9 years as an instructor. He and his wife Erin Flanigan operate the Oficina da Capoeira International, with locations in Philadelphia and Riverside, NJ.
